Digital Art Guidelines
Acceptable Mac & Windows Software:
Program Recommendations
- QuarkXPress 6.5, 7 or 8Â Include all fonts and images. Page size must be set to the trim size of your job. Bleeds should extend 3mm beyond the page area.
- PhotoShop CMYK or Grayscale, 350 to 400 dpi, flattened, no layers, saved as TIF or JPG. Image size must be set to the trim size plus 3mm bleed all around if necessary.
- Adobe Illustrator Save as EPS file, fonts converted to paths or outlines
- InDesign Save as PDF for Acrobat 5.0 upwards, Press or Print Optimized (please download distiller settings from our download section). Remember to include bleed.
- PDF Press or Print Optimized(please download distiller settings from our download section) for Acrobat 5.0 upwards. Include at least 3mm bleed all around. Images & graphics must be in CMYK format.
- Publisher, Word, Powerpoint and other non-graphics software will require charges for conversion.
Preparing Your Digital Files:
- Bleeds: Bleed is a printed image, graphic or background that extends beyond the trim edge. For cutting purposes, bleeds must extend 1/8" beyond intended trim.
- Borders: Borders and text must be at least 5mm inside the trim edge. We don't guarantee perfectly even borders.
- Rich Black: Black backgrounds run best with a mixture of 50% Cyan, 50% Magenta and 100% Black.
- Resolution:
Black & White images (line art, logos): 1200 dpi
Colour & Grayscale images: 350 to 400 dpi at 100%.
- Colours: Colour images must be saved as CMYK. Colour conversions from Pantone to CMYK may produce unexpected results. There will be a charge for converting RGB images to CMYK.
- Colour Proofs: Colour proofs for high volume jobs can be ordered for an additional charge. We don't guarantee an exact match to the colour proof on our high volume, gang run jobs. Changes made after the proof will incur additional re-RIP charges. Email proofs (softproofs) are available upon request, however, Karra Design & Print will not be responsible for colour variations between your monitor and the finished job.
- Scanning Services: We are responsible for colour matching the media we scan. We cannot be responsible for colour matching images scanned elsewhere. Further color adjustments will incur PhotoShop charges.
- Booklet work: Files must be arranged in printer spreads.
- Uploading Your Artwork: Files must be compressed into a single .sit or .zip file before sending using our FTP upload facility. You can use Stuffit or ZipIt for the Macintosh, or WinZip for the PC, available at Download.com.
Acceptable Storage Media:
- CD-R or DVD-R / DVD+R media
- USB media
- Memory Cards
- FTP Upload using  upload facility from our website
Turnaround Time: Most proofs will be ready 24 hours after acceptable files are submitted. Standard turnaround for short-run jobs is 3-5 working days after the proof is signed. Rush service is available. Ask for quotes on rush service.

No responsibility can be accepted for errors (if any) not marked clearly on proof. Author's alterations on and after the first proof including alterations in style will be charged extra.
When you proof read we ask that you do so very carefully and thoroughly. If any typographical errors of our own are found in these proofs they will, of course, be corrected free of charge. However, any changes from original copy or changes in style are classed as "Author's Alterations" and a charge will be made on a time-required basis.
Please download proof-slip as pdf format from our download section or do a printout of pdf form and send that back after filing all sections and signature.

Definitions
-Â "Karra Upload" refers to this website
-The "user" refers to anyone who has uploaded to Karra Upload's servers, or accessed uploaded files
-"File" refers to any data that can be or has been uploaded to Karra Upload's servers by a user
Terms of Service
The following content is not allowed to be upload to Karra Upload's server, and constitutes abuse
- Files that infringe on any copyright, uploaded without the permission of the copyright owner
- Pornography, including images or text which depict nudity, genitalia, or sexual content
- Files that are illegal or violate any United Kingdom law
- Files that promote hatred, violence, discrimination or terrorism
Any files found to abuse the terms of service will be immediately deleted. The uploading user of said file will have all upload privileges revoked.
In certain cases Karra Upload will report violations to proper legal authorities. To report abuse, contact us.
While hot linking is allowed, Karra Uploads reserves the right to prevent hot linking on any domain for any reason.
Limitation of Liability
Use of Karra Upload is entirely at the risk of the user. Karra Upload's services are providing "as-is" without any warranty of any kind.
Karra Upload reserves the right to cancel service to anyone at any time for any reason.
Karra Upload makes no guarantee of the availability of our service or of uploaded files.
Karra Upload will not be held responsible for any damage caused by the use or inability to use this service.
Indemnification
The user agrees to indemnify Karra Upload harmless from any loss, liability, damages or expenses caused by the use of this service, or the content, use or deletion of any user uploaded files. Subsequently Karra Upload will not be held responsible for typographical, technical or human errors resulting in any loss of user's uploaded files.
The user agrees to be held responsible for any liability arising from the upload of any copyrighted or illegal files to Karra Upload's servers. Karra Upload cannot be held responsible for any user uploading illegal/copyrighted files.
Karra Upload agrees to promptly remove any copyrighted or illegal files from our servers upon request.
User Privacy
Files uploaded by the user are kept confidential. Karra Upload may report user's data to proper legal authorities upon discovery of illegal files, subpoena, or if it is deemed necessary. Non-personally identifiable demographic information may be collected by Karra Upload (eg: browser, operating system, etc) and shared with trusted third-parties upon Karra Upload's discretion.
Karra Upload takes the proper steps to secure our servers and your data, both through software and physical security. However, upon the event of any breach of information we will promptly notify you. You agree to hold us harmless from any liability in such an occurrence.
Miscellaneous Provisions
These Terms of Service will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom. These terms are subject to change at any time and without any prior notice. Please check this page often for changes.Â
